Mentorship Match Social 2023

Great connections were made at the Mentorship Match Social celebration hosted on November 30th, 2023! We had a great time mini golfing at Big Mini Putt Club in Wicker Park, and had a great meal with libations next door at Chengdu Impression. A great time was had by all, and we're looking forward to doing it again next year after the 2024 Mentorship Match program.

The Mentorship Match Social is a great place to learn from the best and brightest in the business, making meaningful connections in the industry, and to pass along some of your own knowledge to fledging transportation professionals. Transportation engineers of all experience levels and backgrounds get to discuss our impactful profession, make meaningful connections, and work on their short game!

The Mentorship Match Program is a great way to continue your connection to other Transportation engineers. If your an experienced veteran in the Transportation world, or you’re a young buck looking for guidance, consider joining the Mentorship Match Program in 2024! The program is fully at your own pace, we set you up with a match every month with a prompt for your meeting, and let you run it with your match. You're neither too young nor too old to join, and we'd love to have you (although the celebration invite is definitely a perk, don't get me wrong)!

Check out the fun that you missed and keep your eyes peeled for Mentorship Match 2024 info!

October 2023 Luncheon

On October 12th, the Illinois Section of ITE hosted our October Luncheon at Cooper's Hawk in Downer’s Grove, IL. The luncheon featured a presentation on big data applications in transportation by Adam Danczyk from Iteris, Inc.

Adam Danczyk is a Senior Engineer with Iteris’ Mobility Consulting Solutions. He has over 17 years of planning and engineering experience, working on some of the most pressing transportation challenges of our time. His professional work experience includes emerging technology and traffic operations projects across the United States.

Using Big Data for Bigger Transportation Challenges: The term “Big Data” is often talked about with great interest, a potential tool that might give us answers to our every question, but it is often such an abstract topic without a clear path to an actionable result. How do we use Big Data, and what exactly can we use it for in transportation? Adam’s presentation touched on a variety of big data applications in our industry today, highlighting the use cases where they were effectively deployed and found to create tangible value.

We had a fantastic time catching up, eating great food, and listening to Mr. Danczyk’s informative presentation! Thank you to everyone who attended, and we hope to see you at our next event!
