Teaming up with Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT), Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS), Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), and Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) the Illinois Section of ITE jointly hosted a speed-networking event for students. The event format provided students with varying majors and interests an opportunity to have three-minute conversations with over 20 professionals representing a wide array of backgrounds and industry roles. The students were able to ask for advice and get a better handle on the different sectors within the field of transportation. Thanks again to the professionals who volunteered their time to help out!
UIUC Student-Practictioner Forum at TES
In conjunction with the Traffic Engineering & Safety Conference held in Champaign, Illinois in October, the ITE Student Affairs Group and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign ITE Student Chapter teamed up once again to host the annual Student-Practitioner Forum. The event allowed student attendees to ask a diverse panel of 7 engineering professionals career-related questions in a casual, friendly environment while the group shared a pizza dinner. Topics discussed during the forum included interview and career path advice, how to successfully manage a work-life balance, and aspects of careers that the professionals found the most rewarding.
